GAIMIN acquires Canadian esports organisation, OCG, and rebrands as GAIMIN Gladiators.

As part of its strategic business objective to become the leading gaming technology company, GAIMIN announces the launch of its esports team – GAIMIN Gladiators – formerly OCG, a successful Canadian esports organisation and community.

GAIMIN and OCG are proud to announce the re-branding of OCG to GAIMIN Gladiators who will capitalize on their North American and European successes with a remit to extend into global esports tournaments and events.

GAIMIN Gladiators will continue to operate with its current management structure, which will be supported by GAIMIN’s Chief Gaming Officer – Joseph Turner. Joseph is responsible for GAIMIN’s gaming operations and has a successful track record as a competitive gamer, a gaming industry consultant and a gaming coach, building and developing successful gaming teams.

Martin Speight, CEO of GAMIN explained, “GAIMIN is a gaming and technology company. Our business has been developed for gamers by gamers. In 2021 we successfully tested our technology to utilise the processing power available from the GPU in a gaming PC, which generates revenue for GAIMIN and rewards the gamer for the use of their device . The success of the technology combined with the launch of our cryptocurrency, GMRX and its imminent exchange listing has enabled us to facilitate the inclusion of an esports team into our business and start 2022 with a strong focus for achieving our business goals and aspirations for GAIMIN and further consolidate GAIMIN’s gaming credentials.”

Joseph Turner, GAIMIN’s Chief Gaming Officer, stated “The reason we decided to incorporate OCG into GAIMIN was not only because of their successes, but because they also come with ready made teams, the founders all have years of experience in the esports industry having been professional gamers, and they come with their own team of marketing experts, including content creators, which was a key factor in our decision. Also, their philosophy and approach to GAIMIN fully aligns with our principles and aspirations. I am looking forward to helping them develop their teams and expand into the global esports ecosystem.”

Shawn Porter, CEO and Founder of GAIMIN Gladiators commented, “We are really excited to be part of the GAIMIN team. Our aim has always been to focus on the gamer and this aligns with GAIMIN’s principles. Our aspirations to expand globally is fully supported by GAIMIN and we look forward to building on our success and representing GAIMIN in the global esports arena.

Martin concluded, “This team has already seen great success in its gaming and esports endeavours. After meeting with the guys in OCG, we believe they will be the perfect fit to represent GAIMIN, our brand and our corporate philosophy of “No gamer left behind” within the esports community. I look forward to welcoming them into the GAIMIN family and supporting their successful endeavours in 2022 and beyond.”

About GAIMIN Gladiators

GAIMIN Gladiators were formed from the OCG Esports Club; a Canadian Esports organisation established in 2019 by brothers Nick and Alex Cuccovillo and Shawn Porter. Their aim was to conquer their chosen esports and since 2019 they have achieved significant success winning major events such as Dreamhack Canada for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and successfully competing in the highest pro-amateur league in North America.

The Club expanded into Warcraft 3 in Europe and North America, competing in the most prestigious leagues and tournaments with the strongest lineup and players in the game. In support of their aspirations for growth, the Club moved into new and emerging verticals, participating in Rainbow Six Siege and playing in the Challengers League for two years. OCG’s focused on the semi-professional esports pro scene and its surrounding ecology – building a platform and ecosystem for gamers.

OCG has some of the best talent in Canada in its gaming roster, representing Canada at national level across tournaments in North America. Through constant innovation, community-driven goals and working with top talent, OCG has striven to create an inclusive, respected and distinguished brand for gamers.

The OCG philosophy fully aligns with the GAIMIN principle of “No Gamer Left Behind” and makes OCG the perfect fit for GAIMIN. Based on their gaming successes and principles, OCG is now part of GAIMIN and have re-branded as GAIMIN Gladiators.

GAIMIN Gladiators will represent GAIMIN in the global esports arena and build on their past successes and growth by participating in current and new esports verticals.
